10% of vision-impaired and hearing-impaired people hallucinate

Neurologist Oliver Sacks explains Charles Bonnet syndrome (pronounced sharls bon-A) a type of visual hallucination that affects 10% of visually impaired people. About 10% of hearing-impaired people get auditory hallucinations (most commonly music) for similar neurological reasons. Most are afraid to mention it lest others think they’re crazy.
